USA Cycling
Expands Relationship with Global Reach Sports
by Deborah Engen - USA Cycling
COLORADO
SPRINGS, Colo. (October 30, 2002) – USA Cycling announced
Wednesday a new business partnership with Global Reach Sports, the
parent company of BikeResults.com.
Global Reach Sports will create a new
web-based software package for USA Cycling that will better serve the
needs of members and event organizers, providing a higher level of
customer service.
The new on-line
functionality will give members the ability to purchase
and renew licenses on the USA Cycling website, check their rankings and
create a personalized race resume. The new results system will be
similar to that of BikeResults.com and the rankings will incorporate USA
Cycling’s more sophisticated ranking programs.
With this
new system, event organizers will be given the on-line tools
to sanction events and create race announcements and customize event
homepages. Event organizers will also be provided with a more efficient
process to reconcile post-event reports.
“We
are very excited to be working with Global Reach Sports,” said USA
Cycling CEO Gerard Bisceglia. “USA Cycling conducted an extensive
search
this past summer to find an Internet programming company that we felt
would provide outstanding service products for our membership and event
organizers. Global Reach Sports has a passion for cycling that’s
matched
by their technological savvy.
“We’re
listening to the needs of our members,” said Bisceglia. “Our
goal
with this project is to give our riders the best services possible, and
to give our event organizers the tools they need to organize cycling
events of the highest level.”
USA Cycling’s
new system will allow riders to create an on-line
competition resume that contains their results and ranking history.
Riders will be able to customize their web pages by uploading photos and
listing sponsors. Riders’ race resumes and rankings will be
automatically updated each time race results are submitted by promoters.
“We
are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase Global Reach
Sports’ capabilities with USA Cycling,” said David Ross, President
of
Global Reach Sports. “We saw an immediate increase in participation
and
satisfaction when we launched our NASTAR.com ski racing web site and we
hope to see similar results for USA Cycling.
“We
have dedicated the past four years to building and testing our
SportsPower technology at BikeResults.com and we are thrilled to have
the opportunity to provide these capabilities to USA Cycling,” said
Ross.
